A “six-shooter” is a revolver capable of firing six shots before reloading. This pistol was the service pistol given to police officers while on duty.

Combined Art Project
Can't help but think how underarmed the police force has been for so long. The criminals were walking the streets armed with automatic weapons and the police had to stop and reload after 6 shots. Thankfully, todays police forces are much better equipped to counter these misfits.
ReplyDeleteOh the 38 special the weapon of choice for so many federal and state law enforcement now the glock 9mm with it's 10, 12 and even 15 shot clip. but you know the truth of the whole thing it's not the number of bullets the police have as opposed to the criminals it's what you do with threat of them.
ReplyDeleteA six-shooter revolver was all they had. Weapons have improved, but at what cost? A Philadelphia police officer was buried last week because he was shot. Police officers needed a better gun than a six-shooter. Teh problem is that criminals purchase better weapons, illegally I might add. Better weapons are being purchased on the black market to countries at war. People die everyday because of this so called improved technology. Yes, police officers need better weapons, but unfortunately criminals can also purchase these weapons.
ReplyDeleteIn response to Debbie, I agree. America especially is in too deep of a hole with it's love for guns that we can never dig ourselves out of it. Criminals will always be one step ahead of the Police and it's a game of catch-up.
ReplyDeleteThat was always good for the cops to have...but automatic guns are deff. better. its quicker and easier for the cops.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that's all they had. I'm close to a few police officers and everyone of them will tell you all it takes is one shot. I find It amazing what the wrong half has to shoot back with, and as Joe said it's a game of catch up.
ReplyDeleteWell i am a hardcore against weapons. Thats one way technology has gone awry. But for police officers this could be a sad story of failure. The 6 shooter is a original form of the gun. Some of the earliest guns such as the smith n Wesson were manual loaded guns such as this one and the advancement from these 6 shooters to full clip 9mm';s are a good step towards maybe lowering the deaths to guns but at the same time could it increase it?
ReplyDeleteI'm am not completley against civilians having guns, but i am against people who abuse the privilege of having a gun. For example, the idiots in the city that think it is ok to use a gun against an inocent police officer should be locked up and never see the light of day.
ReplyDeleteThis weapon is much more efficiant than the one shot pieces used during colonial times. BUt we wouldn't need so many guns if there weren't so many gun, but as a violent race that have been making weapons throughout history, i don't see t hem going anywhere
ReplyDeleteIm not really too knowledable about guns but 6 rounds before reloading seems pretty good. I think all you would need was one good shot to protect yourself and defeat your attacker. Guns should really only be able to be used by police offiers. SOmehow it's the crazy one's who have guns. I wish guns where completely off the streets.
ReplyDeleteA 6 shooter was good for the time they were used, but they would not be good for today. With so many criminals who have guns, and all the shootouts, cops need way more than 6 shots to protect themselves sometimes.
