When we were young officers we liked to hear stories from the old heads of what police work was like in their rookie years. Then we would imagine what police work would be like when we were about to retire. I dreamed of finally ditching the archaic, costly, yet not functional, traditional uniforms for new ones that were functional and comfortable. One thing most officers agreed would happen before we retired was that each officer would have a button camera that would audio and video record everything we did during a shift. Although we hated thinking of big brother watching over us, we figured it was inevitable. Well, that time is closer than ever with the TASER AXON.

You are correct, everyone dislikes it when being watched at their jobs. However, some people need to be watched, maybe they would actually do their job. For police officers, I would think it would only help to keep them safe. There would be no doubt about what happened when someone was pulled over. People would not be able to lie about it in court if it's all on tape. Again, it would be nice if soemthing like that was used in other businesses, such as daycare and schools.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the Tasor Axon seems like big brother is watching your every move (and he is), I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The officer would get every detail of a crime that may help apprehend the criminal, or the recordings could be used for training future officers in sensitive or difficult situations. The recordings may also help the officer if he/she was unjustly accused of mistreatment of a suspect.
ReplyDeleteno one wants to feel like there is someone watching over their shoulder but this would cut down even eliminate most police brutality cases, there will be proof the matter what the outcome
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat device. It may bring an end to a great era of bias and racial descrimination for the start. It is also a cool use that can be introduce into other areas besides police work. WHat a useful piece of future technology!
